This car was part of a short-lived Mattel line called FARBS produced in the early '70s. There were four FARBS cars, each consisting of a man's body as the car body and a high performance engine. In addition to Hot Rodney, Mattel made Red Catchup, Myles Ahead and Hy Gear. My Hot Rodney was given to me by an enthusiast named Kirk, who picked it up in a second-hand store. Hot Rodney featured a turning head and goggles (missing on mine) that wrapped around the helmet.
